Some processing techniques for pre-press design in the printing industry

2022-09-16
It is understood that in the printing industry, there was a long time before, most companies are using electronic color separation equipment and laser phototypesetting machine output film, and then the film and plate lamination plate, with the maturity of CTP (Computer Direct Plate) technology, today's printing companies are applying simple and convenient CTP technology for the production of printing plates. But the development of CTP technology has not completely abandoned the application of film. For example, in the post-press processing stage, the smooth implementation of hot stamping, UV (varnishing), die-cutting and other processes are inseparable from film. In the hot stamping stage, technicians often use hot stamping film to position the hot stamping plate to the exact location; in the UV stage, especially in the local varnishing process, screen printing is often used for varnishing, and the production of screen plates is also inseparable from film. It can be seen that the printing process, the output of film is critical and necessary.
The registration color is mainly used to mark the relevant information of the customer or the size of the sample sheet on the film, and when outputting film, it is generally required that this information appear on each color separation color plate. In the design and production of packaging products, the use of spot colors is more common. Overprinting is relative to overprinting, which refers to the operation of hollowing out the background of the first color in order to allow the second color pattern to be set exactly within the hollowed-out area. But this overprinting process will be in the printing process due to the deformation of the paper or printing equipment instability and other reasons, resulting in inaccurate overprinting, white edges, seriously affecting the quality of printing. Therefore, the general use of pre-press design software to "fill the white" operation, the white phenomenon in advance to prevent. And overprint filling is an effective "fill the white" process, also known as "trap".
The quality of printing is not just depending on the operation of the printing process, pre-press design also affects the implementation of subsequent processes. In the pre-press design, bleeding settings, spot color use, overprint fill settings, the use of registration color skills are the basic skills that designers must master, and correctly understand the need for these terms in practice, so that the graphic elements in their place, color separation color plate elements are accurate, the subsequent process can be carried out smoothly.
